Kevin's Charities

Image"As athletes, our input isn't restricted to the field we compete on. Our impact transcends our environment. It's the greatest thing to be able to be in a position to help others."

Kevin Weekes hasn't just made a name for himself playing goal in the NHL. He is also well known for his enthusiastic efforts for children, education and spinal cord injury along with several other causes. Kevin donates a significant amount of time, effort and funds to assist these significant causes.

"I always have believed that charity starts at home. My parents and I often talked, and still do, about being grateful for what we have in our lives. Their words meant something then, but they mean even more now.

"Impacting people's lives is something that is important to me and for those who will be part of this."

Some of the causes Kevin supports are:

Sky's the Limit

ImageSky's the Limit provides students with access to the tools and resources they need to pursue the infinite opportunities and possibilities available to them. This unique initiative was pursued to benefit students in under-resourced communities by providing them with refurbished computers in their homes. Sky's the Limit ensures that a mentoring program is in place to get the students up and running and provides environmental benefits by ensuring that computer systems are reused and recycled. Core value - Sky's the Limit provides services to all under-resourced youth regardless of race, gender, religious belief or sexual orientation. "Everybody's kids or nobody's kids"

The Barbados Community Foundation

ImageThe Barbados Community Foundation, established in November of 1999, has donated over $2,000,000 to various worthwhile causes within Barbados’ community.  Contributions have been made to assist a wide range of organizations and charities, ranging from elderly people to children, the disabled and the visually impaired as well as the medical faction of the community through the Cancer Society, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes and Kidney Associations.  It has also assisted those in sports, as well as the Special Olympics of Barbados.

Continuing Weekes’ commitment to investing in youth around the globe, Weekes has directed a portion of the proceeds raised from his tournament to benefit the local Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, an exciting self-development program available to young people from the age of 14 to 25 years.  This program equips them with like skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and the world.

Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation

ImageThe Future Aces Creed is a philosophy that involves a continuous process of learning about oneself and one's relationships with others. In striving to become Future Aces, young people learn attitudes and approaches upon which they can build throughout their lives. It must be emphasized that there is no point at which someone becomes an 'Ace' once and for all. Living up to the Future Aces Philosophy means constantly seeking ways to improve. Future Aces are people who are always trying to do better. The Herb Carnegie Future Aces Foundation has awarded over $350,000 in scholarships since 1988.
